Gentle Rain

The mists roll down the hills,

Blanketing the world in a muted hush.

‘Birds be still.’

‘Trees be still.’

‘Earth be still.’

An almost imperceptible breeze makes the branches sway;

A celebratory dance – mmm yummy;

As they drink deep and slow.

The earth purrs under heaven’s touch.

‘I love you,’ says the rain.

In the sacred silence, a billion raindrops fall.

‘Listen, you can hear them.’

Ancient life poured out from above,

Cleansing, healing, soothing, nourishing.

‘I love you,’ says the Spirit.

‘And I love you,’ says the immortelle.

‘And I love you,’ says the kiskadee.

‘And I love you,’ says the agouti.

‘And I love you,’ says the man –

Me, the watcher in the window.

    Oh, I really liked this; how sweet and gentle this came across, especially since we have had a little gentle rain come through Phoenix of all places….in a couple of days. It was so nice to wake up to it with a red sunrise for the last couple of mornings!
